Domains & DNS
What is Subdomain?
A section of your own domain with its own content, like blog.yourbusiness.com.
A subdomain is a prefix you add in front of your domain — blog.yourbusiness.com, shop.yourbusiness.com, portal.yourbusiness.com — and it can host a completely different site or app without buying a new domain. Subdomains are created in cPanel or in your DNS zone and get their own records, SSL certificate and document root. Common uses include separating a store from a brochure site, staging copies of a website, or pointing a subdomain at a third-party service with a CNAME.
