Download a backup yourself
- cPanel → Backup Wizard (or Backup).
- Choose full backup or home directory + MySQL.
- Store the file off the server (your laptop or object storage), not only in
public_html.
Do this before plugin updates, theme swaps, or migrations.
Scheduled backups
Business and Pro (and equivalent) plans include daily off-site backups. To restore, open a ticket with the domain and the date you need. Restores overwrite live files — say so if you only want a copy.
VPS and dedicated: snapshots are your responsibility unless the plan lists managed backups. Take a snapshot before OS upgrades.
