What is DDoS attack?
An attempt to knock a site offline by flooding it with traffic from many machines at once.
A DDoS (distributed denial-of-service) attack floods a website with traffic from thousands of hijacked machines until genuine visitors cannot get through. Small attacks are absorbed by the host's network scrubbing, while large ones are best handled by a CDN layer like Cloudflare that filters junk traffic before it reaches your server. If your site suddenly becomes unreachable while your status page shows everything healthy, a volumetric attack upstream is one of the first things to ask about.
