What is TTL?
Time to live — how long, in seconds, a DNS answer may be cached before checking for a newer one.
Every DNS record carries a TTL (time to live) that tells resolvers around the world how long to remember the answer before asking again. A low TTL like 300 seconds means changes show up quickly; a high TTL like 86,400 (one day) means faster everyday lookups but slower changes. Before a planned migration it is smart to lower the TTL in advance, then raise it again once everything is stable.
