Documentation
For most .ng domains (.com.ng, .ng), no documents are needed — just register and go.
For .org.ng, .edu.ng, and .gov.ng, you'll need to provide:
CAC registration certificate
Organisation letterhead
Authorisation letter (for .gov.ng)
Renewal
.ng domains must be renewed annually. We'll send you email reminders 60 and 30 days before expiry. If you don't renew, the domain enters a 30-day grace period, then goes back on the market.
Tip: Enable auto-renew in your WHMCS client portal to never lose your domain.
Common pitfalls
Registering a trademarked name — NIRA will transfer it to the trademark owner. Check the Nigerian trademark database first.
Using a fake registrant name — NIRA verifies identities. Use your real name or company name.
Letting it expire — Competitors can snap up expired .ng domains immediately. Always renew on time.
Wrong nameservers — If you're hosting elsewhere, make sure your nameservers point to the right host. We provide free DNS management.
Transferring a .ng domain
